BIO
Dr Stamatopoulou is an Associate Professor and the Academic Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Computer Science Department of the University of York Europe Campus. She holds a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Sheffield (under the South-East European Research Centre Doctoral scheme).
Dr Stamatopoulou is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a member of the British Computer Society, the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society, and the Intelligence, Modelling & Computation (IMC) Research Group of the department. Her research interests include Learning and Teaching in Higher Education but mainly lie in the area of formal modelling of multi-agent systems, investigating ways of using formal methods and paradigms for the purpose of modelling the behaviour of individual agents that constitute multi-agent systems of a dynamic structure, such as biologically-inspired systems composed of reactive agents. She is currently furthering this research to include emotional agents, with particular emphasis on emotional contagion.
