Η σημασία της τεχνολογίας λογισμικού αυξάνεται ραγδαία καθώς το λογισμικό αποτελεί αναπόσπαστο τμήμα κάθε πτυχής της καθημερινής μας ζωής. Η ανάγκη για την ανάπτυξη υψηλής ποιότητας λογισμικού που συμβαδίζει με τις συνεχώς μεταβαλλόμενες ανάγκες της αγοράς και της τεχνολογικής εξέλιξης αποτελεί απαραίτητη συνθήκη επιβίωσης για κάθε επιχείρηση. Την ίδια στιγμή, η αγορά πληροφορικής απαιτεί όλο και περισσότερο τους επαγγελματίες που ειδικεύονται σε συγκεκριμένους τομείς της ανάπτυξης λογισμικού, όπως web και mobile εφαρμογές , ασφάλεια, τηλεπικοινωνίες και ανάλυση δεδομένων.

Αυτό το μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα έχει δημιουργηθεί με σκοπό να δώσει στους φοιτητές τις γνώσεις και τις δεξιότητες που απαιτούνται για να ικανοποιηθούν όλες οι παραπάνω προϋποθέσεις. Προσφέρει τις πλέον προηγμένες γνώσεις στην τεχνολογία λογισμικού και των επιμέρους εφαρμογών του όπως είναι η ανάλυση δεδομένων (data analytics).

Ζούμε στην εποχή του μεγάλου όγκου δεδομένων (big data). Ο όγκος, η ποικιλία και η ταχύτητα των δεδομένων συνεχίζουν να φθάνουν σε πρωτοφανή επίπεδα. Η ανάγκη για ειδικευμένους επαγγελματίες που έχουν την ικανότητα να εξετάσουν, να κατανοήσουν και επεξεργαστούν σύνολα δεδομένων αυξάνει γεωμετρικά σε όλο τον κόσμο. Αυτό το μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα θα σας φέρει στην πρώτη γραμμή ενός αυξανόμενα απαραίτητου επιστημονικού τομέα.

The range of career opportunities for graduates of the specific programme is very wide, as there exists a great demand for well-qualified, hybrid, professionals who demonstrate a distinct combination of ICT management and a broad awareness of the socio-economic and managerial contexts in which ICT is developed and applied. Graduates may start their own company or pursue a career in a wide variety of industry sectors such as consultancies, services, technology-based firms, telecommunications, education, manufacturing, academia etc.

Software Engineering has been a discipline in computer science for the last 45 years and its importance is increasing sharply as software becomes an integral part of our everyday life.  There is a need to develop high quality working software that follows rapidly changing market needs and the speed of technological transformation.  At the same time, the IT market increasingly demands practitioners who are specialized in specific areas such as web and mobile applications, information security, data networks and data analytics.

This postgraduate course is created in order to give students the knowledge and skills required to fulfil these demands.  It offers students advanced knowledge in software engineering and its specializations.  Using a variety of teaching and assessment methods, it aims to produce students with the skills that are necessary for work as respected professionals in an industrial environment.  The course has a strong industrial dimension through a specialized industrial project module which is supported by external companies.  It also features a strong research dimension through the dissertation, supervised by teaching staff who are actively engaged in the research areas of software engineering.

The course offers four pathwaysspecializations on Web & Mobile applications, Data Analytics, Information Security, Data Networks in order to further specialise students in areas which are highly contemporary in the current IT industry. 

The aims of the MSc in Advanced Software Engineering:

  • Produce high calibre professionals, well-equipped to pursue successful careers in the IT industry and/or the academia.
  • To provide students with an in depth understanding of the techniques which are utilized for the development of complex software systems.
  • To provide students with knowledge of the methods which aim to assure the reliability and the quality of software systems and to use this knowledge as the stepping stone for exploring main current issues involved in software engineering.
  • To make students aware of contemporary technologies and their application in the development of modern IT systems.
  • To integrate in the course a practical industrial dimension. All students participate in group projects proposed with collaboration with industries operating in the IT sector.
  • To expose students to contemporary issues on by incorporating in the course the expertise of practitioners and researchers on the field.  This aim is achieved by seminars held by guest lecturers from the industry and academia.

Applicants can be admitted to the course as long as they possess a Bachelor Degree from a recognised university and with good performance.

Good knowledge of the English language, certified by one of the following:

  • TOEFL: paper based 575 / Internet based 89-90 or
  • IELTS: 6,5 or CAE (A or B) or
  • equivalent qualifications

Candidates who have completed their Bachelor degree or their higher secondary education through the medium of English Language are not required to present an English language qualification.

 

Candidates should hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any other related ICT discipline.

  1. A certified and translated in English photocopy of the University Certificate (ptychion) or Bachelor Degree and of the accompanying transcript
  2. A certified photocopy of the English Language Accreditation
  3. 2 Recommendation Letters
  4. A photocopy of your identity card or passport
  5. Personal Interview
