PapantonakisDr. Antonis Papantonakis (Athens, 1968) is working as Research Scientist at the “Research in Innovation & Entrepreneurship” (RIE) group of Athens Information Technology (AIT) since 2015. Antonis holds a PhD in Databases (Graphical Query Languages and Post-Relational DBs) from Birkbeck College, University of London (UK) and a MSc in Computer Science from University College of London (UCL, UK). He is also a graduate (BSc) in Economics of the Athens Economics University (Greece).

Antonis’ research interests include Databases (extendable data schemata, non-relational DBs, visual languages), Systems Analysis and Design and Software Engineering (Object-oriented languages and frameworks).

Antonis is being employed for over 20 years in the creation of software systems for a large variety of both industrial projects (airlines, tourism, ERP systems, banking systems, billing, etc.) and European Union funded projects as analyst, designer, project manager, team leader and senior engineer, mastering multiple development methodologies and tools, database systems and languages and modern frameworks for building and testing software systems.
